Russia to Replace Weapons for Special Forces with AMB-17 Assault Rifle
Recently, the Russian Defense Ministry announced plans to replace the weapons of its special forces with the new AMB-17 assault rifle. This advanced weapon, lightweight and silent, is expected to significantly enhance the combat effectiveness of special forces with its outstanding performance and precise aiming capabilities.
The AMB-17 assault rifle is an upgraded version of the AM-17, featuring a suppressor that significantly reduces noise during firing, greatly improving the concealment of special forces during missions. At the same time, the rifle's lightweight design ensures easy portability, suitable for rapid movement and combat operations by special forces.
The new rifle has a caliber of 9×39mm and uses subsonic ammunition. With a full length of 850mm, a barrel length of 200mm, a magazine capacity of 30 rounds, and a total weight of 2.9 kilograms, it boasts a short-stroke gas piston automatic system and a rotating bolt with three lobes for locking, ensuring stable and accurate firing.
The AMB-17 assault rifle's design fully considers ergonomics. Its full-length Picatinny rail on the top can be used to mount various optical sights and other accessories, improving shooting accuracy. At the same time, the rifle's safety/fire selector is designed for ease of use by both left- and right-handed shooters, adapting to the usage habits of different soldiers.
According to reports, the AMB-17 assault rifle has undergone combat testing among Russian volunteers in Ukraine and received positive feedback. Test results show that the rifle performs exceptionally well under combat conditions, meeting expectations in terms of both shooting accuracy and concealment.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated that as the operational requirements of special forces continue to increase, so do the demands for weaponry. The replacement of the AMB-17 assault rifle will further enhance the combat effectiveness and survival ability of special forces, enabling them to perform more smoothly in future operations.
In the future, with the mass production and replacement of the AMB-17 assault rifle, the Russian special forces will possess even more powerful weaponry, providing a firmer guarantee for the country's security and stability.
With the continuous advancement of technology and the increasing complexity of warfare, the role of special forces on the battlefield has become increasingly important. The replacement of the AMB-17 assault rifle is undoubtedly an important step in the modernization of the Russian special forces and provides a useful reference for the upgrading of weaponry for special forces in other countries.
