Micro Silica (Silica Fume) In The Chemical Industry Applications

Ewende Micro Silica (silica fume) has many applications in the chemical industry, as follows:

 

1. Chemical product dispersant: To prevent certain chemical synthetic powder agglomeration, available micro silica powder to replace the more expensive treatment materials, or as part of the dispersion of isolation materials to increase the effect, widely used in micro-fine pesticides, fertilizers, fire extinguishers and other products. Micro-silica powder's fine particles and large specific surface area can be adsorbed on the surface of chemical powder particles, preventing the particles from contacting each other and aggregation, so as to maintain the dispersion and stability of chemical products.

2. Reinforcing filler for rubber, plastic and other polymer materials: Because the composition of micro silica powder is similar to that of silica produced by fumed method, it can be used as a reinforcing filler in rubber, resin, paint, lacquer, unsaturated polyester and other polymer materials. It can improve the strength, toughness, elongation, abrasion resistance, finish, anti-aging and other properties of these materials. For example, in rubber products, adding micro-silica powder can enhance the rubber abrasion resistance, tear resistance and aging resistance; adding micro-silica powder in plastics can improve the strength, hardness and heat resistance of plastics.

3. Preparation of mesoporous adsorbents: Micro silica powder has a small particle size, high activity, high silica content, is a good raw material for the preparation of mesoporous adsorbent materials. These mesoporous adsorbents can be used to adsorb organic pollutants, heavy metal ions and other harmful substances produced in the chemical production process, play a role in purifying the environment and wastewater treatment.

4. As a catalyst carrier: The high specific surface area and pore structure of micro silica powder make it can be used as a catalyst carrier for various catalytic reactions in chemical production. The catalyst loaded on micro silica powder can improve the dispersion and activity of the catalyst, thus improving the efficiency and selectivity of the catalytic reaction. For example, in petrochemical hydrocracking, catalytic reforming and other reactions, micro silica powder can be used as a catalyst carrier.

5. Production of water glass: Water glass is an important chemical raw material, widely used in construction, paper making, printing and dyeing industries. Micro silica powder can react with alkali to produce water glass, which provides a new source of raw material for the production of water glass.
