BEIJING - The National Bureau of Statistics of China has released the energy production data for September 2024, offering a glimpse into the country's energy sector dynamics.

In the realm of coal production, the scale of industrial raw coal output reached 410 million tons, indicating a 4.4% year-on-year growth. This growth rate is a notable development, suggesting a stable supply of this essential energy source for various industrial and power generation needs. The average daily output was 13.81 million tons, further highlighting the consistent production capacity in the coal sector.

The crude oil production also remained stable. The large-scale industrial crude oil output was 17.07 million tons, with a year-on-year increase of 1.1%. However, the imports of crude oil totaled 45.49 million tons, showing a slight decrease of 0.5% year-on-year. This data reflects the complex dynamics of China's oil market, with domestic production maintaining a certain level while import trends experience minor fluctuations.

Natural gas production witnessed a stable growth as well. The large-scale industrial natural gas output reached 19.3 billion cubic meters, registering a year-on-year growth of 6.8%. The average daily output was 640 million cubic meters, indicating a reliable supply of natural gas for both industrial use and household consumption. The imports of natural gas reached 11.99 million tons, up by 19.0% year-on-year, demonstrating the increasing reliance on imported natural gas to meet the growing demand.

In the electricity sector, the power generation picked up speed. The large-scale industrial power generation reached 802.4 billion kWh in September, with a year-on-year increase of 6.0%. This growth rate is a positive sign for the country's power supply, ensuring the stable operation of various industries and daily life. The average daily power generation was 26.75 billion kWh, underlining the strong power generation capacity.

Overall, the energy production data for September 2024 in China shows a mix of stable growth and shifting trends in different energy sources. These figures not only reflect the continuous efforts of the country in ensuring energy security but also have significant implications for the global energy market and the country's economic development. As China continues to balance its energy mix and pursue sustainable energy development, the energy sector is expected to play a crucial role in driving the country's economic growth and environmental protection efforts.
