According to Sinopec, two hydrogen-fueled vehicles have recently completed a long-distance transportation test from Beijing to Shanghai, covering a distance of 1,500 kilometers. This marks the first large-scale, long-distance, cross-regional practical transportation test of hydrogen vehicles in China.

The hydrogen vehicles involved in this long-distance transportation test were equipped with a 180-kilowatt hydrogen fuel cell system and carried cargo such as hydrogen fuel cell coolant and diesel exhaust treatment fluids, which are environmentally friendly technological products. The total weight of the vehicle was 28 tons. The vehicles set off from Daxing in Beijing and, after two days of travel, crossed six provinces and cities before finally arriving in Shanghai.

It is reported that the total distance of the journey was about 1,500 kilometers, and hydrogen refueling tests were conducted at seven hydrogen refueling stations along the way.

Hydrogen vehicles are automobiles that use hydrogen as fuel and are considered part of the new energy vehicle category, alongside electric vehicles. Hydrogen vehicles have the advantage of fast energy replenishment and are suitable for long-distance and heavy-load transportation. However, for many years, the development of hydrogen transportation has been limited to a single province or region due to constraints in the hydrogen refueling station network and the vehicles' range. To achieve long-distance and cross-regional hydrogen transportation, China has accelerated the deployment of a hydrogen refueling station network in recent years. Currently, China has initially established several high-speed hydrogen energy corridors, including the Beijing-Tianjin, Chengdu-Chongqing, Shanghai-Jiaxing-Ningbo, Jinan-Qingdao, and Wuhan-Yichang corridors.
